- THE CLOWN PUNCHERS ARE LEAGUE CHAMPIONS!!! The Sabres had finished playing only an hour
before this game started, and they only had 4 skaters, so this was really an easy win for
us. It is not exactly the way we had wanted to win the league championship, but we'll take
it. We built up a 5-0 lead before they scored their first goal. By the third period, they
could barely skate any more, and we started doing a lot of passing of the puck, and not
nearly as much shooting.

- Summary
- What an exciting game. They scored the first goal just a few minutes into the game. Tim
S. got our first goal just a few minutes later. The scoring went back and forth until we
had a 3-2 lead in the third period. They scored with just a few minutes left in the game
to tie the game at 3-3. We were preparing for a shootout when Matt "I'm not coming
out of the game now" S. found Matt C. open in front of the net and Matt C. put the
puck in with only 2 seconds left in the game to give us the 4-3 victory. We are now in the
playoff finals, and are likely to play the Sabres again.

- It was a fun (and close) game. We gave up the first goal of the game about 20 seconds
into the first period, but soon came back to take a lead which we would not give up.

- We did a great job of keeping the puck in our offsnsive zone throughout the game.
Whenever they tried to break out with it, there was usually two of our players between
them and the net, and more often than not, we got the puck away from them before they were
able to get a shot.

- We spent most of the game playing in their end of the rink. We had a lot of shots on
goal, but could not get a lot of them to go in. Fortunately, our defense (and some luck)
held them scoreless.

- The game actually wasn't as close as the final score would indicate. We had built up a
6-3 lead, and again gave up a couple of goals in the last few minutes of the game to make
the finish somewhat interesting.

- The Brewsers started the game without a goalie. For the first 7 minutes of the game we
couldn't score on them. They finally got a goalie on the rink. About 1 minute later we
score our 1st goal. Matt shows up about halfway thru the 2nd period and scores 2 goals.
Tim and Dave also scored for the Punchers.

- "I'm not tired at all" from Matt after only playing half the game.
"I'm glad your not allowed to body check out there" from Nathan after getting
knocked down several times along with the rest of our players.

- Summary
- This team played much better this game than they did the last time we played them. They
have a couple of young (too young for an 'Adult' league) players who can really handle the
puck. We did a good job of playing our zones so that once they got past one of us, there
was usually someone else there to challenge them, and we broke up a lot of their passes in
our zone. We got the scoring started quickly, and then held on to the lead to win the
game.

- Our Defense for only allowing 1 goal, and not a lot of good shots on goal

- Tim S with the blown-out front wheel on one of his skates

- "I wonder if any of their team will be here, it might be past their bedtime."
"Yeah, I was thinking the same thing" - Brian and Scott discussing the age of
some of their players before the game (it was a 10PM game).

- We were behind for most of this game. In the third period, the score was 2-5. We managed
to score three unanswered goals to tie the game and force it to a shootout. In the
shootout, they scored 2 and we only scored 1.

- I walked into the rink 1/2 hour before the game and Dave was already there.
Tim B trying to leave the locker room and getting his catching mitt stuck on the doorknob

through two periods. In the third, it looked like they were getting tired, and we managed

- Starting the game without a goalie we fell behind 2-0. With a volunteer goalie in net,
our team slowly worked its way back into the game. We were behind the entire game. Lots of
chances to score but unable to get the job done.

- We were playing with a short bench, only 2 subs. We got off to a quick start before they
came back to make the game interesting after two periods. By the middle of the third, we
had built up an 8-4 lead, but gave up two goals in the last 2 minutes to make the final
score look closer than it should have been.

- Looked like it was going to be a long night. Started the game with only 1 sub. Tony show
up to give us sub number 2. The scoring went back and forth all game. Game tied 4-4 late
in the 3rd period Matt gets the puck and scores the game winning goal with 45 seconds
left.

- We had a huge 8-2 lead early in the 2nd period. They got a few goals late in the 2nd
period to close the gap. Their goalie got sick at the start of the 3rd period. He stayed
in the game for a few more minutes before they replaced him.
